“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
— Henry Ford
highlights!

plus one year!!
Birthdays make a good day for reflection! It’s like a plateau for one to look down and look at the ups & downs in the past year. What types of lessons you learned, what you won’t repeat again, what you’re actively still working on and any milestones you’ve reached.
-> l e s s o n s : This past birthday’s biggest take aways is : (1) time doesn’t always heal all, (2) some wounds might become part of you. It sounds kind of discouraging, but some wounds need more active care and attention, and some become so engraved in you that you forget how you were before you had been hurt. The brighter part of my lesson is that when you find the right people, they can help you create a safe place to heal. Which is a good transition to another point of reflection : gratitude.
-> g r a t i t u d e : Human connection. Every year i grow more & more grateful for the people in my life & the new people i meet constantly. The connection you feel with others is the most unique intangible experience, yet it’s the something everyone experiences! It’s such a crucial part of humans social necessity, so I find such gratitude for the people in my life that i can feel connected with.
-> f o r g i v e n e s s : Forgive your past self & grow for your future self. The past can hold you back without you even realizing, so reflecting on yourself is really important to see what mistakes you’ve made and not let it impact your potential!
The Power of Anxiety
I ran across this video of Jesse Eisenberg talking about his anxiety & it was a helpful reminder of how in your head you can become with anxiety, but anxiety is just an emotion and its normal to feel this way!
-> Recognize catastrophic thinking -- the idea : if somethings going right, the next thing is going to go wrong.
-> Normalize your panic -- your body reacts to the environment : normalize the reaction to the environment.
-> Reframe negative feelings as motivation -- self doubt / panic about future : giving advice can help you receive it!
